Superbowl Sunday

Well it's day number four for Jamison in the NICU, and today just happens to be superbowl Sunday. I would like to wheel Jamison's bed over to the TV so he can get his first taste of football and not have to wait until the fall but I don't think they will allow that:) Jamison continues to do really well. They tried taking the CPAP off but his oxygen levels dropped so it went back on at a lower level so that they can wheen him off of it. His bilirubin levels,  which causes jaundice, have dropped from a 13 yesterday to an 8 today, which is great progress. His skin already looks so much better. They will leave the light on him for a little bit longer though so that they can make sure it doesn't come back.

Jamison is much more active then I thought he would be. He does a lot of wiggling around and waving his arms around, even trying to pull his breathing tubes out now and then.

We haven't been able to see his eyes for a couple days now since he has to wear a mask while the light is on him. He was starting to open his eyes a fair amount before the mask went on. We had a lot of fun trying to figure out what color they were and who his eyes looked like,  Karen's or mine. I think he's got my color with Karen's shape. But we will wait and see.

The hardest part so far, is being away from him and thinking about him and how he's doing. I know the nurses are right there taking care of him but I just wish I could be there all the time to make sure he's doing OK. Going back to work tomorrow will definitely be difficult.

I love this little guy already. He still has a lot of hurdles to overcome before he can come home but I can already tell he's a fighter. In every prayer I have said or blessing I've given I have had a strong feeling that this is the Lord's will. He is such a blessing and we are so grateful that he is here early with us.

  1. Every baby is a miracle and you are seeing a lot of the miracles that normally happen inside. Your faith and the faith and prayers of family and friends will help you all through this. So proud of you two! Can't wait to meet him soon! Love you all!
